Compare and contrast- Of mice and men
Today while we watched the movie version of of mice and men, I noticed some some slight, and some significant differences between the book and the movie. One of the most significant to me, was probably (the last 5 minutes of the movie, or the last 3 pages of the book), when george kills lennie, in the movie george talks to lennie about tending rabbits and suddenly stands up, twists and shoots him in the back of the head, i found this was too sudden, and almost a little cocky. in the book, there is much more dialogue, and also one of the most significant parts, when lennie twists his head around to look at george, and george says "No, Lennie. look down the acrost the river, like you can almost see the place" george says this for two reasons: He doesn't want lennie to turn around and see the gun, and freak out, he wants lennie to be happy and calm. the second reason is that, george loves lennie, and they are so close, he feels like he won't be able to live without him, and he knows that if he and lennie lock eyes, it will all be over and he won't be able to shoot him. another difference i found was with curley's wife, in the book, she seems like she has much more energy, and seems more enthusiastic and charismatic, where in the movie she seems much more depressed and less enthusiastic. i think this could have been for two reasons, either it was the directors way of taking a different direction with the character, or the actress herself was just lacking in energy in charisma. over all, i think the movie followed the book pretty well, and i think watching the movie was a nice break from working.

Dear George
Dear George,
I heard the news about you and lennie from candy, and i'm really sorry. I know it's really not my place to state my opinion, especially with your loss, but i feel very strongly about this. You did the right thing. I understand the other guys' perspectives, but candy told me that curley was going to aim for his gut, which means he would have painfully bled out, and lennie was a sweet guy, very nice, i remember him from when i met him on christmas a few years back, and i'm positive that he would have never done something maliciously. Candy told me curley told you guys to shoot him in the stomach, which would have been agonizing, and it's not what lennie deserved. I'm glad that george died peacefully and that he was in a good place, and that he was thinking about those rabbits, instead of suffering. I miss George, even though i only met him once, i felt like we could have been close friends, and that maybe if i hadn't stayed in weed, i could have traveled with you guys, and we all could have bought that farm and lennie could have tended the rabbits.
Sincerely,
Jackson Teare

Of mice and men 2
i think that Lennie's quote is basically telling the reader that Lennie is easily frightened, or gets anxious easily. i think lennie says this because i think he feels threatened by George, who warns him not to have anything to do with the the woman who peeks into their bunk house. "...Don't even look at that bitch. i don't care what she says and what she does. i seen em' poison before, but i never seen no piece of jail bait worse than here" George says this to lennie as soon as she is out of ear shot, to avoid any more trouble. George sees the woman, and is almost immediately infatuated with love for the pretty lady. i think this lady could also symbolize and remind him of the girl who's dress he grabbed in weed, and that it was a pretty girl with a soft and pretty dress on, and all he really wants to do is pet the soft dress, and not hurt anybody.
(39) "Well, he seen this girl in a red dress. Dumb bastard like he is, he wants to touch ever'thing he likes. just wants to feel it." George says. but from the girls' perspective, there she is, just standing thee to cross the street, when some huge dude walks up and grabs onto her clothing. she doesn't know he doesn't want to know her. she doesn't know that he was only enticed by the pretty and potentially soft red dress, she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, and so was lennie.
